In Australia, we plan to introduce at least 5 electrified vehicles by the end of 2024, while equipping and training many of our dealers in readiness for the first vehicles to arrive.
Electric vehicles
Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are fully-electric, meaning they are solely powered by electricity and do not have a petrol, diesel or LPG engine, fuel tank or exhaust pipe. BEVs are also known as ‘plug-in’ EVs because they use an external electrical charging outlet to charge the battery. They have zero tailpipe emissions.
Hybrid vehicles
A plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) uses two different sources of power: petrol or diesel, and an electric motor which uses stored energy from a battery. When driving, a combination of regenerative braking and power drawn from the engine helps replenish the battery. You can also recharge on-the-go, using public charging stations.
