The New FPV Range

Ford Australia  announces  a new range of supercharged V8 engines for its Australian-made Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) range.

Just launched on the 15th of October at The Australian International Motor Show being held in the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour  the new FPV GS and GT model ranges are both powered by newly developed  5.0 litre supercharged Ford V8 engines. Both engine configurations are more fuel efficient, cleaner and most importantly, more powerful, than any engines offered by FPV in the past.

Developed locally by Prodrive in a $40 million program, the new FPV engines are based on the ‘Coyote’ Ford V8 first introduced in the Ame
rican Ford Mustang at the beginning of this year.
“This new supercharged V8 engine programme represents FPV's biggest-ever investment in the Australian market, and has been the most comprehensive and exhaustive development programme we’ve ever undertaken,” Prodrive Asia-Pacific Managing Director Bryan Mears said.

“It’s important to emphasise just how Australian these engines are,” Mr Mears added.  “Although the basis of the engine is imported, all the components utilised in the supercharged configuration are locally-sourced and the engines are completely hand-made by the team at FPV in Melbourne.” One of the major locally-sou
rced components is the Eaton TVS supercharger developed by Melbourne-based Harrop Engineering.

“The outcome is phenomenal … these engines are brilliantly responsive, their performance is sensational, and they will take our next generation of FPV models to a level that’s simply unmatched by anyone else.”

The new Coyote engine is also 47kg lighter than the current 5.4-litre Boss 315kW engine – the weight savings also enhance the handling performance of FPV’s new GS and GT ranges.
